Amari Cooper has disappointed fantasy managers this NFL season, however a big game is coming this week for Amari Cooper against a poor Washington Commanders' secondary.
Cooper's Role in this Browns offense
Amari Cooper has easily been the most targeted offensive weapon on the Browns this season. He has recorded around 9 targets every game at a consistent rate. While this hasn't added up to the most fantasy points, it gives us a good idea what his potential looks like. There have also been multiple touchdowns that didn't go his way in some of his games. An example is last week where he recorded an 80-yard touchdown that was brought back by a holding penalty.
Washington's secondary
The Commanders have exceeded everybody's expectations this season and are off to a hot 3-1 start to the season. However, there is still a gaping hole that is holding this team back. Washington's secondary allows the 2nd most points to opposing wide receivers and the most to opposing quarterbacks. Deshaun Watson has been terrible this season, but if there is a game where we see moderate play from him, it will be this game. The only other game where Deshaun Watson played decently was the New York Giants game where Amari Cooper went 7/12 on catches and recorded 27.6 fantasy points.
I am confidently placing him in my lineups this week!
